Problem

Each year, 22 million people worldwide are diagnosed with cancer, and up to 35% of them experience diagnosable and treatable psychiatric conditions. Yet, the psychological and emotional aspects of cancer care remain largely neglected.

Despite compelling evidence that psychosocial interventions and mental health support improve both quality of life and cancer survival rates, access remains a challenge. Under-recognition, inadequate funding, and the lack of integration between mental health and oncology services create significant gaps in care. A more comprehensive approach to cancer treatment is urgently needed.

Cerula Care’s Solution

Cerula provides a digital behavioral health platform designed to integrate mental health support into oncology practices. By partnering with existing oncology providers, Cerula enables direct referrals and connects patients with a dedicated care team—including psycho-oncologists, health coaches, and care managers.

Through personalized intake evaluations and tailored interventions, patients receive ongoing support, access to health coaching, and external resources as needed. Cerula’s platform uses patient stratification and clinical workflow automation to ensure timely and effective support. By embedding mental health care into the cancer treatment journey, Cerula significantly enhances patient outcomes and quality of life.

Impact Thesis

The Company has demonstrated 58% improvements in depression and 64% improvement in symptom reduction. 90% of members also indicated an improvement in medication adherence from use of the Cerula platform. By enabling health providers to broadly offer behavioural health patients to a larger population of patients, Cerula is lowering the barriers to address their mental health needs.

The Founder Alignment
